Egypt's Housing Cooperatives Open New Apartment Sale in New Cairo and Other Cities

The General Authority for Housing Cooperatives announced the launch of a new residential offering that includes hundreds of apartments across eight new cities – New Cairo, 6 October, Badr, 10 October, 15 May, Suez, Port Said and Al‑Arish. A total of 314 units are being made available, with sizes ranging from 47 m² to 155 m². Prospective buyers must purchase a booklet (krasat al‑shurut) by the deadline of Thursday 30 July, after which a public lottery will allocate the units.

Eligibility requirements specify that applicants must be Egyptian nationals aged 21 or older, have no prior ownership of a cooperative or government housing unit, and may acquire only one unit per family. Required documents include a signed financial declaration, a completed application form, a valid national ID, proof of payment of the reservation fee, and a notarised power of attorney if applying on behalf of another person. In New Cairo, the price is set at 25,000 Egyptian pounds per square metre. The authority also mandates that owners use the unit for personal residence and may not sell, rent or change its use without written permission.

The programme is presented as part of Egypt’s broader effort to expand affordable housing and support social stability, aligning with the state’s development vision.
