Egypt's Kasr Al‑Ainy Hospitals Receive Major Medical Upgrades

Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdel‑Aziz Qansuh, together with Cairo University President Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel‑Sadiq, inaugurated a series of new medical facilities and upgrades at the Kasr Al‑Ainy university hospitals.

Key projects include the new Abu Al‑Reesh al‑Munira children’s hospital, a 360‑bed pediatric unit, and a 15‑bed intensive‑care unit at the Japanese‑style university children's hospital, costing a total of 112 million Egyptian pounds. A strategic electricity station was automated at a cost of 75 million pounds, and the main laboratory complex was expanded and modernised for 240 million pounds, enabling over 5.5 million tests per year.

Additional highlights were the advanced mechanical‑life‑support unit with ECMO capability, a high‑tech medical simulation centre at the obstetrics‑gynecology hospital, and a Naguib Mahfouz museum within the women’s department. The upgrades aim to improve service quality, reduce surgical waiting lists and support more than 2.5 million annual patients across Kasr Al‑Ainy’s 22 hospitals and centres.
