Egypt's Labor Minister launches national vocational training strategy

Egypt's Minister of Labor, Hassan Raddad, has initiated the development of a National Vocational Training Strategy. The initiative aims to unify training mechanisms across various ministries, the private sector, and labor unions to better align youth skills with the requirements of both domestic and international labor markets.

During meetings in the New Capital, Raddad emphasized a shift in philosophy from merely employing available labor to “training what can be employed.” The strategy is intended to integrate with a broader National Employment Strategy to enhance productivity and ensure Egyptian workers can compete globally.

Additionally, the Ministry is coordinating with the National Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking to address irregular migration. By expanding vocational training and regulating overseas employment, the government seeks to provide safe, legal alternatives for youth and reduce the economic drivers that lead to illegal migration.
