Egypt's Local Development Minister reviews Cairo field inspections

Manal Awad, the Minister of Local Development and Environment, has reviewed reports regarding field inspections conducted by the Higher Committee for Public Shop Licensing and the Ministry’s Internal Audit and Governance Department. The inspections took place during September across several Cairo districts, including Mokattam, East Nasr City, West Nasr City, Heliopolis, and El Nozha.

The oversight focused on the efficiency of technological centers, processing citizen requests, and addressing violations. According to the report, field campaigns resulted in the removal of approximately 167 cases of street encroachments and illegal obstructions. Additionally, authorities closed and sealed 97 shops and commercial facilities found to be in violation of regulations, including the disconnection of utilities for those non-compliant.
