Egyptian Minister Manal Awad pushes waste‑city project and local development initiatives
Minister Manal Awad of Egypt’s Ministry of Local Development and Environment met with World Bank representatives to speed up the integrated waste‑city project in the 10th of Ramadan city.
She oversaw a field‑inspection tour in Port Said, where the ministry reported 556 pending service requests and 250 files under review, and confirmed that the 2025/2026 investment plan was implemented at 100 %. The inspection also highlighted cleanliness problems in the Al‑Amal housing area of the Al‑Dahawi neighbourhood.
In late July, the ministry issued its 199th weekly infographic, detailing activities such as the opening of four upgraded technology centres in Qalyubia (Tuakh and Al‑Qanater Al‑Khairiyah), a review of the Green Sharm project, and a visit to the unplanned industrial zone of Al‑Akrasha. Awad stressed the need for continued inspections across all governorates to enforce regulations, address citizen complaints promptly, and improve public services.
