Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity expands marriage support initiative
The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity is continuing registration for the second phase of the ‘Farhat Misr’ initiative. Under the patronage of Entissar El Sisi, the program aims to support young men and women from underprivileged families by assisting with marriage preparations and providing psychological and social rehabilitation programs.
Target beneficiaries include recipients of the ‘Takaful and Karama’ cash transfer program, graduates of care homes, individuals from alternative families, and persons with disabilities who meet specific criteria. To qualify, applicants must have completed their marriage contract but not yet held the wedding ceremony. Additionally, it must be the first marriage for both parties, and neither should have previously benefited from similar support from the Ministry or other entities.
Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy emphasized that the initiative is designed to alleviate the financial burdens and debts often associated with starting a new life, ensuring that eligible brides can celebrate without the stress of installments or heavy costs. Registration is conducted electronically through the dedicated ‘Farhat Misr’ platform.
