Egypt's Parliament and Senate to convene October 1

The Egyptian President has issued a decree calling for the commencement of the second ordinary session of the current legislative term for both the House of Representatives and the Senate, scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026.

In the House of Representatives, the opening session will involve members selecting their preferred specialized committees. Following this, the final lists for the 25 specialized committees will be announced after reviewing any written objections. Subsequently, elections will be held for the leadership offices of these committees, which consist of 100 seats divided among 25 chairpersons, 50 deputies, and 25 secretaries.

Ministries have already submitted their legislative requirements to the House to help prioritize the upcoming legislative agenda. Meanwhile, the Senate will hold its opening session at 2:00 PM on the same day, marking the start of its second ordinary session of the second legislative term in accordance with constitutional mandates.
