Egypt's President meets CIA Director to discuss Iran crisis

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with CIA Director John Ratcliffe in Cairo to discuss regional security and the ongoing crisis involving Iran. During the meeting, al-Sisi called for a comprehensive agreement to resolve the conflict with Iran and restore stability to the Middle East, emphasizing the necessity of diplomatic solutions to address underlying causes.

A primary focus of the discussions was international maritime security, particularly regarding the Strait of Hormuz. The region faces high tensions due to the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has disrupted commercial activities and threatened the freedom of navigation in key oil and gas corridors.

In addition to the Iranian crisis, the leaders addressed security concerns in Gaza, Sudan, and Somalia. President al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s support for diplomatic efforts and called for the full implementation of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
