Egyptian Ministers of Social Solidarity and Planning Discuss Investment Boost
Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsi, and the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Ahmed Rustam, met at the cabinet headquarters in New Alamein. The meeting, attended by Maj. Gen. Gamal Awad, head of the National Social Insurance Authority, and Mohamed Metwally, CEO of NI Capital Holding, focused on expanding cooperation to maximise investment returns from the ministries’ assets.
Key sectors discussed included the Nasser Social Bank, the fund supporting NGOs and civil‑society projects, and the fund for rural and environmental industries. Both ministers said the goal is to shift from subsidy‑based support to economic empowerment for vulnerable families, aligning with Egypt’s broader development plan. Rustam highlighted a partnership with NI Capital, the investment arm of the National Investment Bank, to better utilise assets and increase earnings, while Awad stressed the Social Insurance Authority’s intent to raise direct contributions in companies and banks to improve return rates.
The officials agreed to coordinate future actions to enhance asset management, develop diversified investment products, and boost financial returns for the social sector.
