Egypt's Social Solidarity Ministry launches scholarships for disabled students and graduates 100 recovering addicts

Dr. Maya Morsi, Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity, instructed the Qadirun b'Ikhtilaf Fund to award university scholarships to the top high‑school and Al‑Azhar exam students with disabilities, as required by article 11 of the fund’s establishing law. The scholarships cover studies inside Egypt and abroad and aim to ensure equal educational opportunities for disabled youth.

On the same day the minister attended a ceremony at the Al Azimah Center in Matrouh, where 100 individuals who completed the national drug‑rehabilitation programme were formally graduated. The centre, part of the state‑run anti‑drug strategy backed by President Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi, provides free treatment following international standards. Its opening adds to a network that now includes 35 centres across 20 governorates, expanding access to addiction‑recovery services.

Both initiatives reflect the ministry’s broader effort to support vulnerable groups through education and health programmes.
