Egypt's Social Solidarity Ministry launches radio drama on family, addiction and economic empowerment
Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity has launched a new radio drama series titled “Shadow of the Caller” (Arabic: ظل الساعي). The first episodes aired on Friday 31 July, with two daily broadcasts on Nagham FM (11:00 am and 11:40 am) and Mega FM (11:10 am and 11:30 am). The series stars well‑known actor Iyad Nassar alongside other performers.
The programme is intended to highlight social issues affecting Egyptian families, including protection, care, economic empowerment, and the fight against addiction. Minister Dr Maya Morsi said the drama format reaches people in homes, workplaces and on the move, fostering empathy and dialogue beyond traditional preaching. The project is carried out in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and with funding from the European Union, as part of an effort to strengthen the ministry’s institutional and human capacities.
