Egypt's Thanaweya Amma results expose 15‑year education reforms turmoil

Egypt released the results of its national secondary school examination, the Thanaweya Amma, marking another year of celebrated pass rates and top‑scorer announcements. Analysts note that the figures now also reveal the impact of fifteen years of continual curriculum revisions, assessment changes and shifting educational philosophies, which have left students navigating an unstable schooling system.

In August, the British University in Egypt hosted a ceremony honoring seventeen of the highest‑ranking Thanaweya Amma graduates, awarding them full scholarships. The university highlighted its dual‑degree model—an Egyptian degree accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities and a British degree validated by partner UK institutions—and its recent accreditation by the UK Quality Assurance Agency. The scholarships were provided in partnership with the Mohamed Farid Khamis Foundation, underscoring the institution’s role as a preferred destination for Egypt’s top secondary school achievers.
