EH Bildu and ERC renew Senate election coalition

EH Bildu and Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) have announced they will renew their electoral coalition for the upcoming Senate elections on November 29. The alliance, which previously ran together in 2023, aims to form a joint parliamentary group to defend the national rights of the Basque Country and Catalonia.

In a joint statement, leadership figures including Arnaldo Otegi and Oriol Junqueras emphasized that the coalition is a necessary tool to counter what they describe as a ‘reactionary bloc’ in the Spanish government. The parties intend to prioritize social rights and address the ‘housing emergency’ as central pillars of their political agenda.

This strategic move comes amid a broader political landscape in Spain, including discussions regarding potential left-wing alliances and the impact of early general elections on regional governance and financing agreements in Catalonia.
