EHA Impact Ventures invests $50,000 in Kebbi-based Ma'Zaine Foods

EHA Impact Ventures (EIV) has announced a $50,000 investment in Ma’Zaine Foods, a women-led agro-processing company based in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. The investment, structured as a convertible revenue-based loan, is intended to fund new equipment to expand existing product lines and initiate the production of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) to treat severe acute malnutrition in children.

Founded by Maryam Yakubu, Ma’Zaine Foods currently produces various nutrition-focused items, including Tom Brown cereal, date powder, sweet potato flour, and baobab fruit powder. These products serve children, breastfeeding mothers, and individuals with diabetes. In addition to capital, EIV will provide the company with technical assistance, strategic guidance, and communications support.

The investment aims to address significant nutritional challenges in northern Nigeria. According to UNICEF estimates, approximately two million children in Nigeria suffer from severe acute malnutrition, with northern states bearing a disproportionate share of the burden. Expanding local production of therapeutic foods is expected to improve health outcomes and strengthen regional food systems.
