EHang launches global program for pilotless eVTOL operations

EHang Holdings has launched a global fast-track program designed to accelerate the assessment and introduction of pilotless electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in international markets. The program utilizes a four-phase roadmap—including framework alignment, infrastructure establishment, validation flights, and commercial launch—to help civil aviation authorities streamline certification processes using EHang’s existing aircraft certifications.

Sri Lanka has been named the inaugural market for this initiative, with local authorities aiming for sandbox commercialization within four months, pending regulatory and safety assessments.

In a related development, EHang’s EH216-S aircraft successfully completed its first public flight at Hong Kong Cyberport. This flight is part of the HKSAR Government’s Low-Altitude Economy ‘Regulatory Sandbox X’ Trial Project, which aims to validate regular operations for a three-dimensional low-altitude transportation network across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
