EHC Biel appeals for harsher penalty against Daniel Carr

EHC Biel has filed an appeal with the sports court to increase the suspension of HC Ajoie player Daniel Carr from five games to ten. The appeal follows an incident where Carr delivered a ‘sucker punch’ to Biel captain Gaëtan Haas, knocking him down and causing a concussion.

While a single judge initially imposed a five-game suspension and a fine of 7,600 Swiss francs, EHC Biel argues that the penalty should be doubled. Under current hockey judicial practice, the incident falls into the most severe category (Category III), which covers intentional or grossly negligent offenses with potentially grave injury consequences and typically carries a range of six to ten games or more.

Gaëtan Haas remains sidelined with a concussion, and the duration of his absence is currently undetermined.
