EHC Kloten signs Finnish forward Joona Luoto
EHC Kloten has signed Finnish forward Joona Luoto to bolster its offense following injury setbacks to Brandon Gignac and Pontus Åberg. The 28-year-old winger has signed a contract through November 30, 2026, which includes a mutual option to extend until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Luoto brings significant experience to the National League, having previously played for SC Bern during the 2023/24 season, where he recorded 30 points in 52 games. His professional background includes 23 NHL appearances with the Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets, as well as 74 AHL games. Additionally, he is a two-time Finnish champion with Tappara and was named the Liiga playoff MVP in 2022.
Kloten's sporting director, Ricardo Schödler, noted that Luoto provides physical presence, a strong shot, and familiarity with the league, which should offer immediate assistance to the team.
