EHC Königsbrunn defeats ESC Geretsried 5-4 in overtime

EHC Königsbrunn secured a 5-4 overtime victory against ESC Geretsried in the opening match of the 2026/27 Bayernliga season. Despite the reigning champions' win, the Geretsried River Rats led three separate times during the game before the match was decided in extra time.

Geretsried took an early lead through Xaver Hochstraßer, but Königsbrunn responded via Tim Bullnheimer. The River Rats regained the lead through Maximilian Hüskens, but Königsbrunn's Steffen Tölzer scored twice during a power play to shift the momentum. After Geretsried leveled the score at 4-4 via Luis Huber, Königsbrunn scored the winning goal in the 62nd minute.

Geretsried coach Butzi Gams expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, noting they earned the point despite the loss.
