Ehime Prefecture announces August 2026 events and Shikoku Karst tour

A series of cultural and recreational events will take place in Ehime Prefecture during the first weekend of August 2026. Highlights include the "Happiness Joy marche de rue" street market in Matsuyama, a tribute exhibition for baseball legend Shigeo Nagashima, a Tanabata storytelling festival at Dogo Onsen, a light display at Matsuyama Castle, a Gundam Base pop‑up in Masaki, a Tobe‑yaki ceramics exhibition, an ukiyo‑e art show at the Ehime Prefectural Museum, and a special exhibition celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Kumo River Museum.

Separately, the Shikoku Karst high‑land area will offer a "Tsunotuku" guided tour on 4, 10, 17, and 31 August 2026, with free rides for guests staying at Star Village TENGU. The tour showcases the plateau’s limestone scenery, grazing cattle, and summer skies. The KAGAYA photography exhibition, featuring night‑sky and aurora images, runs until 9 August 2026. Both initiatives aim to boost tourism and local cultural participation throughout the summer season.
