Şehitkamil Mayor proposes drug testing for all council members

Umut Yılmaz, the Mayor of Şehitkamil Municipality, has called for drug testing of all municipal council members and deputy mayors. This initiative follows a drug-related scandal in Keçiören Municipality where 171 employees reportedly tested positive.

Yılmaz stated that he intends to undergo testing himself and present his report at the next council meeting. He proposed that the testing include blood and hair analysis rather than just urine tests to ensure accuracy. During his speech, Yılmaz characterized drug dealers as ‘vatan haini’ (traitors to the nation) and emphasized the need to protect the youth and municipal workers. He requested a joint motion be submitted to the council to implement these tests for all members and deputies.
