EIB and BBVA announce €1.3 billion for Spanish SMEs
The European Investment Bank (EIB) and BBVA have launched a €1.3 billion initiative to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Spain. The investment aims to improve credit access for entrepreneurs, particularly in Spanish regions where income levels fall below the European Union average.
The EIB Group, which includes the European Investment Fund (EIF), has allocated €259 million through two transactions with BBVA. This support is intended to help SMEs maintain liquidity, invest in modernization, and create new jobs, thereby reducing the economic gap between more developed and less developed areas of the country.
