Eid al-Adha celebrations mobilize public services in Algeria and spark family unity calls in Senegal

In Algeria, authorities reported a broad mobilization of public services for the first three days of Eid al-Adha 2026. The Ministry of Commerce recorded over 53,700 merchants participating in a permanence programme, with a small number of violations noted in several wilayas. Citizens lodged 39 complaints via the Morafikcom app concerning non‑compliance, price display and hygiene. The Interior Ministry also organized extensive cleaning, waste removal and sheep‑skin collection to maintain public health.

In Senegal’s Saint‑Louis region, Imam Ratib Cheikh Ahmed Tidjane Diallo addressed worshippers at the mosque, urging a renewal of family values and social cohesion. He emphasized that “faith and solidarity must first take root within the household” to combat violence and insecurity. Governor Al Hassan Sall praised the sermon, highlighting its relevance for stability and prosperity.
