Eiffel Tower faces scrutiny over safety and management

The Eiffel Tower is facing scrutiny following reports of management failures, safety risks, and social controversies. An investigation by Le Monde has uncovered alarming security deficiencies and mismanagement that could potentially endanger the monument, its visitors, and its staff. Allegations suggest that these issues have been systematically concealed.

Recent incidents include metal parts being torn from railings by strong winds, falling onto the Champ de Mars. Additionally, the site has experienced security breaches where unauthorized individuals, including Greenpeace activists, gained access to the restricted forecourt at night.

Social tensions also surfaced after female employees were reportedly asked to leave their workstations to accommodate a visiting male delegation associated with a Hindu movement. This incident led to a one-day strike by staff. The operating company, SETE, expressed regret for complying with the delegation's request.
