Eight divers rescued off Hachijojima after being reported missing

Eight people, including one diving instructor and seven guests, were rescued after being reported missing off the coast of Hachijojima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, on October 3.

The incident began around 2:00 PM when a diving boat captain reported that the group, who were scheduled to surface at 12:30 PM, had failed to appear. Following a search by the Japan Coast Guard involving aircraft, all eight individuals were located in the sea around 4:40 PM.

By approximately 5:30 PM, all eight people had been rescued via helicopter. Reports indicate that everyone is conscious.
