Eight indicted for attacking ambulance in Cluj County

Eight individuals have been indicted under preventive arrest following an attack on an ambulance in the village of Căprioara, Cluj County. The incident occurred on August 8, 2026, on county road 109A.

According to prosecutors from the Dej Court, the group blocked the ambulance's path using two vehicles. The attackers then used axes, shovels, crowbars, poles, sticks, and stones to strike the vehicle's hood, windshield, and bodywork. During the assault, a stone shattered the windshield, causing injuries to a member of the medical crew that required 18 to 20 days of medical treatment.

The investigation revealed that the attack was motivated by misinformation spread on TikTok, where a video falsely claimed a “black ambulance” was involved in child abductions. The defendants face charges including assaulting medical personnel on duty, destruction, disturbing public order, and obstructing traffic.
