Rio Grande do Norte police launch operation against drug trafficking ring
The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte launched ‘Operação Delphinus’ to dismantle an organized crime group involved in drug trafficking, criminal financing, and social dominance in the Alto Oeste region.
The operation resulted in 11 arrest warrants and 13 search and seizure warrants being executed simultaneously in Alexandria, Pilões, Baraúna, and Bento Fernandes in Rio Grande do Norte, as well as in Icapuí, Ceará, and the state of São Paulo. Two individuals were also arrested in flagrante for drug trafficking.
Investigations revealed that the group managed a distribution network for narcotics, some of which originated in Colombia and entered Brazil through the port of Icapuí in Ceará. The operation’s name, ‘Delphinus’, refers to a dolphin figure pressed into drug tablets used by the organization as a distinctive brand.
