Eight Muslim nations condemn Israel's E1 settlement plan

Eight Muslim nations—including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan—have issued a joint statement condemning Israel's ongoing settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories. The ministers specifically rejected the E1 settlement plan located east of occupied East Jerusalem, describing it as a dangerous escalation that promotes annexation.

The joint statement warns that the E1 plan threatens the geographic contiguity between the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which undermines the viability of an independent, contiguous Palestinian state based on 1967 borders. The ministers characterized these actions as a direct challenge to international peace efforts, including Donald Trump's peace plan.

In addition to condemning the expansion, the ministers expressed condemnation for violence committed by settlers against Palestinians and called for international accountability. They supported the imposition of international measures and sanctions against individuals and entities responsible for illegal settlement activities.

Separately, the Israeli Ministry of Construction and Housing has initiated procedures to build 1,234 housing units as part of the project, with the broader E1 plan potentially encompassing over 3,400 units across approximately 12 square kilometers.
