Eight people face trial for illegal feeding at Molslaboratoriet

Eight individuals are facing legal proceedings in Randers Court for allegedly performing 27 instances of illegal feeding of horses and cattle at the Molslaboratoriet rewilding site in Mols Bjerge between March 2022 and June 2025.

While the defendants deny breaking the law, several admit to feeding the animals but argue they acted out of necessity because the animals appeared malnourished. Defense lawyers are currently requesting that a veterinarian and a photographer be called as witnesses to testify to the animals' condition and the circumstances of the feedings.

Prosecutor Laura Simoni Pedersen has opposed the inclusion of these witnesses, labeling it ‘redundant evidence’ and suggesting the court rely on official inspection reports from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. A judicial decision regarding the witnesses is expected on September 28, after which the main trial will be scheduled.
