Eike Immel expelled from TV show following racial slur and controversy

Former German national goalkeeper Eike Immel has been removed from the fifth season of the reality show ‘Das große Promi-Büßen’ after just two days of filming. The decision by production follows a series of controversial incidents during his ‘Runde der Schande’ (Circle of Shame) segment with moderator Olivia Jones.

Immel reportedly used a racial slur and insulted a woman during the proceedings. Additionally, he was filmed singing the first stanza of the German national anthem, which carries historical associations with the Nazi era. The production team determined that a line had been crossed, leading to his immediate expulsion from the camp.

During the show, Immel also addressed personal financial matters, including admitting he owes money to the late football legend Andreas Brehme. While Immel expressed some shame regarding his past behavior, he defended his recent actions and criticized what he termed ‘do-gooder behavior’ (Gutmenschen-Getue).
