Eike Immel sentenced to probation for fraud

Former Bundesliga and national team goalkeeper Eike Immel has been sentenced to a two-year suspended prison sentence by the Marburg District Court. The decision follows an appeal process after Immel was previously sentenced to two years and two months in prison.

Immel admitted to 107 counts of fraud, involving approximately 34,000 euros taken from acquaintances. He testified that the funds were used to finance a cocaine addiction. The victims included former associates and the partner of the late Andy Brehme.

The court's ruling includes a four-year probation period, 200 hours of community service, and a requirement for Immel to participate in drug therapy and undergo regular testing. Immel expressed remorse during the proceedings, stating his intention to change his life.
