Eilish McColgan wins London Big Half after injury comeback

Eilish McColgan secured her fourth victory at the London Big Half on Sunday, marking a successful return to competition after a five-month hiatus caused by a fractured foot. The 35-year-old Scottish athlete suffered the injury during the London Marathon in April, an event where she finished seventh despite significant bleeding. The injury previously forced her to withdraw from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

McColgan completed the 13.1-mile course in 1:10:54, finishing 1 minute and 19 seconds ahead of last year's winner, Jessica Warner-Judd. While the time was slower than her British half-marathon record of 1:05:43, it signaled a strong comeback following her recovery.

In the men's race, Kadar Omar Abdullahi of Birchfield Harriers took first place with a time of 1:01:51, narrowly beating Jack Rowe by 14 seconds. In the men's wheelchair event, David Weir defended his title for the fifth time, setting a new course record with a time of 46:13. Eden Rainbow Cooper also successfully defended her title in the women's wheelchair event, finishing in 52:47.
