Einar Mattsson implements plant and paving recycling in Swedish properties

Einar Mattsson Fastighetsförvaltning has implemented a sustainability initiative by reusing plants and paving materials across its properties in Sweden. To facilitate facade renovations and the installation of scaffolding, the company’s outdoor environment team relocates vegetation directly to new locations rather than using temporary storage.

Trees and plants from Ruddammen at KTH, Åvingegränd in Tensta, and Sigtunagatan at S:t Eriksplan have been repurposed to create new garden environments. For example, mature trees from Tensta, including silver pears and magnolias, have been transplanted to Slipgatan in Hornstull. This method avoids unnecessary transport, reduces costs, and allows for the use of more established plants.

In addition to vegetation, the company has reused Danish paving stones at the Slipgatan site. The project also includes environmental features such as integrating downpipes into plantings to collect rainwater for irrigation and using soil prepared with effective microorganisms (EM) to support plant growth.
