Einride and DAF Trucks partner for autonomous electric freight

Einride and DAF Trucks have announced a partnership to integrate the Einride Driver autonomous driving system into DAF’s latest generation of electric trucks. The collaboration aims to accelerate the large-scale deployment of SAE Level 4 autonomous electric freight transport, addressing industry challenges such as driver shortages and rising operational costs.

Under SAE Level 4 automation, vehicles can perform repetitive driving tasks independently under predefined conditions without human intervention. This allows drivers to focus on more complex logistical tasks that require human expertise.

In collaboration with the Dutch research institute TNO, the companies are investigating the technical integration of the software with DAF’s electric vehicle platform. The project includes developing technical interfaces to ensure safe and scalable autonomous operations. Preliminary testing and interface validation are planned for 2026, with the goal of system integration and launch in 2027. The companies are also working with type-approval authorities to prepare the platform for future use on public roads.
