Einride and DAF Trucks partner on autonomous electric freight

Einride and DAF Trucks have announced a partnership to integrate Einride’s autonomous driving system, known as Einride Driver, into DAF’s premium electric vehicle platform. The collaboration aims to advance the large-scale commercialization of SAE Level 4 autonomous electric freight transportation, addressing industry issues such as rising operating costs and driver shortages.

In collaboration with the Dutch research institute TNO, the companies will work to define and test the integration of the autonomous system within DAF’s electric truck platform. The project involves establishing necessary interfaces to ensure safe and scalable operations. Initial testing and interface validation are scheduled for 2026, with the integration and commissioning of the autonomous driving software expected to follow in 2027.

DAF Trucks, a subsidiary of PACCAR Inc., will utilize its electric truck technology to facilitate this transition. The goal of the Level 4 automation is to allow vehicles to perform repetitive driving tasks independently under predefined conditions, enabling human drivers to focus on higher-value logistics operations.
