Joti Chatzialexiou to become Eintracht Frankfurt Sporting Director
Eintracht Frankfurt has appointed Joti Chatzialexiou as its new board member for sport, succeeding Markus Krösche. The 50-year-old, a Frankfurt native, has signed a contract running until June 30, 2030, with his official duties set to begin on February 1, 2027.
Chatzialexiou is currently the sporting director at 1. FC Nürnberg. He will trigger a release clause in his existing contract to facilitate the move. While he transitions, he will continue to fulfill his responsibilities at Nürnberg. The transfer is reported to involve a fee of less than one million euros.
Before joining Nürnberg in 2024, Chatzialexiou spent over two decades with the German Football Association (DFB), most recently as the sporting director for national teams. His expertise focuses on strategic sports development, youth academy structures, and squad planning. Eintracht Frankfurt leadership, including President Mathias Beck and CEO Axel Hellmann, stated that his professional competence and understanding of modern professional football make him an ideal fit for the club's future goals.
