Eintracht Frankfurt women launch Champions League qualification campaign

Eintracht Frankfurt's women's team opened the 2026/27 UEFA Women's Champions League qualification on 5 August 2026, hosting AC Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus in Frankfurt. The German side entered the second qualifying round after a series of preparatory friendlies against Mainz 05, SC Sand, Feyenoord Rotterdam and RC Strasbourg, and added five new players during the summer, including Dutch forward Danique Tolhoek.

The match is part of a mini‑tournament that will determine which three German clubs advance to the league phase. The winner of the Frankfurt‑Omonia tie will face the victor of the Vålerenga‑Malmö FF duel, while the losers contest a third‑place game.

Separately, the team is dealing with a doping investigation involving captain Laura Freigang. The DFB's control committee alleges she missed three mandatory doping controls within twelve months, a breach that could lead to a two‑year suspension. The case, overseen by DFB board member Lars Mortsiefer, remains under review and may extend over several months.
