Eirini Mourtzoukou trial set for November 2026 in Patras

Eirini Mourtzoukou is scheduled to stand trial at the Patras Mixed Jury Court on November 4, 2026. The trial concerns the murders of three infants: the defendant's two children and the infant of a friend. Mourtzoukou has already confessed to these specific killings.

The Achaia Misdemeanor Council has issued a referral decree against the 25-year-old, adopting the prosecution's proposal in its entirety. The prosecution describes her as an “organized, particularly calculating, violent, ruthless, remorseless and extremely dangerous person” who allegedly derived a “distorted empowerment of her ego” from her actions.

The legal proceedings also cover an attempted murder of her former partner in late 2020. While the death of the defendant's younger sister in 2014 is not part of the current trial due to the statute of limitations, prosecutors have characterized it as a “prelude” to the subsequent crimes. The court has rejected defense claims of diminished responsibility.
