Erini Nikopoulou on TV's digital shift and her past sexual harassment

Greek veteran journalist Erini Nikopoulou said television has fundamentally changed, moving toward highly personalized programming driven by digital platforms such as TikTok. She described the emergence of “vidcast” podcasts, shrinking presenter fees and a shift away from traditional broadcast models. Nikopoulou recalled covering major events – the death of Princess Diana, a documentary on post‑communist Poland, and a visit to Pakistan to meet then‑prime minister Benazir Bhutto – as part of her career.

In a separate interview she disclosed that she was a victim of sexual harassment as a school‑age child, first by a peer and later by teachers, experiences that left lasting psychological scars. She said attempts to report the abuse were met with opposition, adding that the trauma remains one of the hardest chapters of her life. Nikopoulou also noted she no longer misses the intense pressure of television work, now working as a communications consultant for foreign banks.
