Eisenach: Bishop plants Martin Luther apple tree

Bishop Werner Philipp of the Evangelical Methodist Church visited Eisenach as part of the ‘Hoffnung unterwegs’ initiative, which aims to provide strength and confidence during uncertain times. The visit included a service accompanied by the Bebra community's trombone choir.

During a devotion at the Hötzelsroda war cemetery, Bishop Philipp, alongside Mayor Christoph Ihling and Rainer König of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, planted a ‘Martin Luther’ variety apple tree. This tree is the 91st in a series of 95 ‘Luther trees,’ with each tree representing one of Luther’s theses. The tree is intended to symbolize a hope that grows steadily and resiliently.
