Eispiraten Crimmitschau fined following game delay

The DEL2 league company, ESBG Eishockeyspielbetriebsgesellschaft mbH, has concluded an investigation into the ice hockey club Eispiraten Crimmitschau. The club has been issued a 3,000 euro fine, which has been suspended on probation until April 30, 2027.

The disciplinary action stems from a 55-minute delay during a championship match against the Lausitzer Füchse on October 4, 2026. The delay was caused by a fan choreography that required extensive cleaning of the ice surface, roof structure, and safety fences to ensure the game could proceed safely.

The decision to suspend the fine was influenced by the club and its supporters taking full responsibility for the incident. Both the club management and the involved fan group provided written statements admitting to the misconduct and offering apologies. The league emphasized that clubs are responsible for the behavior of their home fans and must closely organize planned choreographies to prevent safety risks and ensure timely game starts.
