Eğitim Bir-Sen calls for fairer teacher relocation system

Önder Uçak, President of the Muğla branch of Eğitim Bir-Sen, has called for a more equitable and predictable teacher relocation system to support family unity.

Under the planned 2026 excuse-based appointment process, teachers are expected to select provinces and districts before choosing specific schools. However, current regulations require teachers who fail to achieve family unity to select all available vacancies within a province to qualify for further evaluation. Uçak argues this creates a dilemma; for instance, a teacher attempting to join a spouse in Köyceğiz might be forced to choose between distant districts like Milas or Bodrum—risking separation from their spouse—or risking being unable to relocate to Muğla at all.

Uçak emphasized that teachers should not be forced to calculate which choice provides the most advantage, but should instead be supported by a system that prioritizes family unity and provides clear, fair guidelines.
