Eğitim Bir-Sen official calls for Kurdish language teacher appointments

Ramazan Tekdemir, the Diyarbakır branch president of the Eğitim Bir-Sen union, has called for an increase in Kurdish language teacher appointments and the removal of administrative obstacles facing elective courses.

Tekdemir emphasized that language, culture, and education rights should be addressed within the framework of democratic rights, human dignity, and social justice. He noted that the discrepancy between the language spoken at home and the language used in schools can hinder the learning process and impact educational equality. He argued that treating the mother tongue as more than just a limited weekly elective course is a requirement of democratic standards.
