Eğitim Gücü Union President defends teaching against AI replacement claims
Oğuz Özat, President of the Eğitim Gücü Union, has strongly rejected claims that artificial intelligence will replace teachers. His comments follow social media discussions suggesting that teaching is one of the first professions at risk of being automated.
Özat argued that teaching involves essential human elements that AI cannot replicate, such as providing emotional support, physical care, and empathy. He specifically highlighted the needs of students with autism, special education requirements, and preschool children, noting that AI cannot perform tasks like comforting a crying child, hugging, or providing the nurturing presence required in a classroom setting.
He emphasized that the profession extends far beyond mere information transfer, involving a deep commitment to the holistic development of children and adolescents.
