Ejisu: Suspect arrested after hijacking taxi and crashing into shops

A suspected armed robber was taken into police custody in Ejisu, Ashanti Region, after attempting to hijack a Toyota Corolla taxi. The incident occurred at the Ejisu traffic junction when the suspect attacked the driver and attempted to flee in the stolen vehicle.

As bystanders attempted to intercept the car, the suspect reversed the vehicle into a row of roadside shops. Following the crash, the suspect abandoned the car and attempted to hide inside a mobile money container. Police officers arrived at the scene to intervene and prevent a mob from carrying out lynching. While one report indicates no injuries were recorded from the crash, another mentions medical teams attending to victims at the scene.
