Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji Names New Buildings After Former Governors
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji announced that several newly constructed government buildings will bear the names of former governors Kayode Fayemi, Ayodele Fayose and Segun Oni as a tribute to their contributions. Two of the buildings, named after Fayemi and Fayose, are slated for commissioning on 31 July 2026 and 3 August 2026 respectively, while the building named after Oni is expected to be commissioned in October 2026. The former governors will act as special guests of honour and will personally preside over the inaugurations. The move follows Oyebanji’s earlier decision in October 2024 to rename the remodeled Presidential Lodge after the state’s first civilian governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, as part of his administration’s Shared Prosperity Agenda.
The naming and upcoming ceremonies signal the governor’s effort to complete projects begun in his first term and to underscore a continuity of honouring past leadership as he prepares for a second term.
