Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Orders Military Base, Police Station for Eda Oniyo
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji directed the creation of an additional military formation in the Eda Oniyo axis of Ilejemeje Local Government Area, citing the need to strengthen security, safeguard lives and property, and prevent future breaches in the border community. He also ordered the speedy completion of a divisional police station that is under construction, describing the facility as critical to the community’s security architecture. The directives were given while receiving a delegation from Eda Oniyo led by the traditional ruler Oba Julius Awolola, with Dr Rufus Ojo speaking on behalf of the community. Oyebanji noted that soldiers, police and other security outfits already patrol the area and expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for supporting the creation of state police. He instructed Special Adviser on Security Matters Brig Gen Ebenezer Ogundana to approve the military base regardless of cost, stating, “I have listened to your request; the construction of the police station is ongoing, and I will ensure the speedy completion.”
