Ekiti State begins renovation of NYSC orientation camp

The Ekiti State Government has launched a comprehensive renovation and infrastructural upgrade of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Emure-Ise-Orun. The project follows a directive from Governor Biodun Oyebanji to address critical structural issues, including recent collapses of sanitation facilities, which prompted engineers to conduct integrity tests on the camp’s foundations and load-bearing capacities.

Commissioner for Youth Development Gold Adedayo reported that 19 projects are currently underway, including upgrades to the gatehouse, registration centre, dining area, kitchen, and several male and female hostels. The renovation also covers the perimeter fence and the NYSC state coordinator’s lodge. To enhance security and utility, solar lighting solutions will be installed across all facilities.

Special Adviser on Special Projects Olubunmi Talabi noted that local contractors are being utilized in accordance with the state’s local content policy. The administration aims to transform the camp into one of the premier NYSC orientation facilities in the country, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for corps members.
