Ekiti State road collapse strands hundreds of trucks

A section of the federal road at Ilupeju-Ekiti has collapsed along the Ifaki-Oye-Ilupeju-Kabba axis in Ekiti State, causing massive gridlock and leaving hundreds of articulated vehicles and trucks stranded for several days.

The collapse has disrupted the movement of goods into and out of the state. Significant safety concerns have emerged within the local community because many of the stranded vehicles are tankers carrying petroleum products, raising fears of potential fire outbreaks or accidents.

Drivers have reported being trapped for at least 48 hours, describing the situation as a major hardship for those whose livelihoods depend on transport. Local leaders and residents have called for urgent intervention from the Federal Government to renovate the critical route.
