Çekmeköy opens Hacı Avni Şahin Mahalle Evi community center

The Hacı Avni Şahin Mahalle Evi, a new social community center in the Merkez neighborhood of Çekmeköy, has officially opened following a ceremony led by Çekmeköy Mayor Orhan Çerkez.

Designed to strengthen neighborhood solidarity and social life, the center will offer various services including a library, public education courses, and various cultural activities. The facility also provides free tea to visitors and features a dedicated meeting area specifically designed to support the social lives of retirees and elderly citizens. Additionally, the center will offer free barber services to retirees aged 65 and older.

Mayor Orhan Çerkez noted the personal significance of the opening, as the Merkez neighborhood is where he grew up. The project is part of the municipality's social service initiatives aimed at creating permanent community hubs for residents.
