Tunç Soyer and others face indictment in İzmir corruption probe

In a separate but related legal proceeding regarding corruption allegations at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, defendant Necmettin Şimşek testified during the 76th hearing. Şimşek claimed that Turan Aydoğan, an advisor to Ekrem İmamoğlu, requested 500,000 dollars to resolve a legal dispute, with 200,000 dollars requested as an upfront payment.
Ekrem İmamoğlu, currently detained, released a video message via social media using AI technology. In the message, he warned that the erosion of trust in the legal system would impact all 87 million citizens of Turkey, affecting investors, workers, and retirees alike.
